Initially inspired by my Swiss heritage and Swiss folk art I began painting on furniture with interior acrylics but quickly swapped to wood stains as my preferred medium. Why Furniture? 

• 12.1 million tons of furniture is discarded annually in the US - a 450% increase since 1960
• 80.1% of discarded furniture ends up in landfills and only 0.3% gets recycled
• Most of this furniture is still functional. 

The world doesn’t need more SHIT in it. We should not be mass producing things, most of which will never actually be bought and instead will go straight from production to landfill after sitting in a warehouse for 6 months. I thrift my clothes, I buy things used, and the furniture that I produce is always up-cycled from used materials. We can be the change we want to see in the world.
